The Yoga practice will be led by Susan Whiteside with a special focus on sound healing. Susan has been teaching yoga for 20 years. After a short reference (history) of traditional yoga, Susan will focus on:
Gentle yoga Sound healing (Tibetan bowls) Breathing practices Core Strength
These practices will be taught in a manner accessible to all -- suitable for beginners and more experienced yogis.
The loving-kindness meditation will be led by Alicia Perillo. Alicia has been practicing mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation since 1999. The meditation will focus on the practice of Metta, the Pail word for loving-kindness. (Pali was the ancient language in which the Buddha taught.) Metta practice consists of:
Loving-Kindness Compassion Sympathetic Joy Equanimity
The Metta practice will consist of a guided meditation for the first 15 minutes and then a silent sit for the final 5-10 minutes.
These practices are offered freely. Donations to the Philadelphia Meditation Center which has generously donated their space and teacher donations will be appreciated.
